CHRISTMAS RECEPTION AT THE WHITE PALACE: The Karađorđević Family, With the Help of Serbs From Chicago, Delighted Children Without Parental Care With Gifts! (PHOTO)

The Karađorđević family today organized the traditional Christmas reception at the White Palace for children without parental care, children with intellectual disabilities, and socially vulnerable children, who were presented with holiday gifts.

Aleksandar Karađorđević addressed the gathered children and wished them a warm welcome to the White Palace, as well as happy holidays.

“Thank you very much for coming. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, as well as good health. Health is very important,” Karađorđević said.

His wife, Katarina Karađorđević, expressed her satisfaction that a large number of children attended the Christmas reception and added that the gifts were provided by the humanitarian organization “Lifeline” from Chicago.

“I wish you to have lots of love for one another, to be well and to be happy, because you are the best children in the world. I am happy that Serbian people from Chicago think of you and that they have provided gifts for you. I want you to know that this is your home as well, not just ours,” Katarina Karađorđević said.

The president of the humanitarian organization “Lifeline,” Donna Sekulić, stated that she is delighted that she will be able to see the smiles of the gathered children when they receive the gifts intended for them, and emphasized that the organization works throughout the entire year to collect gifts for children from Serbia.

“I wish you all happy holidays – Christmas and the New Year, and I am very happy to be here today and to be able to see the smiles on your faces when you receive the gifts,” Sekulić said.

The traditional Christmas reception at the White Palace is organized every year by the Karađorđević family for children with intellectual disabilities and socially vulnerable children, as well as for children without parental care.

After returning to Serbia 24 years ago, the Karađorđević family restored the tradition of Christmas receptions that were customary during the time of the monarchy, and since then they have gathered children from Serbia and the Republic of Srpska every year ahead of Christmas.
