The third rally in support of students in Chicago will take place on February 2 in front of the Consulate of Serbia at 1 PM local time, or 8 PM Central European Time.
The previous two gatherings attracted a significant number of people in the city known as the largest Serbian diaspora hub. During both protests, 15 minutes of silence were observed for the victims of the canopy collapse in Novi Sad on November 1 last year. At the last gathering, Ohio Street, where the Consulate is located and which is highly trafficked, was even blocked. This blockade remained peaceful and took place under the supervision of Chicago police.

Protests in Multiple U.S. Cities
The Serbian diaspora continues to stay connected with its homeland, and Chicago is not an exception merely due to its large Serbian population. Support rallies have also been held in Los Angeles, Boston, Miami, and Houston.
Beyond the United States, support has extended to Vancouver and Toronto, as well as Serbian communities worldwide, reaching as far as the South Pole.

The protests began after the collapse of a canopy at the Novi Sad Railway Station, which resulted in 15 casualties. The demonstrations soon escalated into student protests and faculty blockades in Belgrade and Novi Sad, later joined by higher education institutions in Niš, Kragujevac, and other cities.

Currently, students are marching from Belgrade to Novi Sad, where, on February 1, exactly three months after the tragedy, they plan to block three bridges in the city.
