The car of the director of the PIO fund, Relja Ognjenović, which is owned by his mother, burned down on the night between Sunday and Monday, and the fire was reported to the police by his wife Vesna.

As Nova.rs reports, Ognjenović and his wife both gave statements regarding this event, and the PIO director said that it is a car that his wife normally uses.

The news that Ognjenović’s car was set on fire was first published by the president of the “Love, Faith, Hope” Movement and journalist Nemanja Šarović, who said he has information from police sources and that a BMW X7 owned by Relja Ognjenović’s mother was set on fire that evening.

The Second Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade confirmed for Nova that they have been informed of the reported event.

“We have been informed about the event from December 15, 2025, which occurred in Belgrade, Municipality of Voždovac, Stojana Ljubića St., and the duty prosecutor ordered the police to take measures to determine all circumstances of the stated case, after which a decision on further action will be made upon determining all facts related to the stated event,” stated the prosecutor’s office.

However, during the day on Monday, when the editorial staff called the prosecutor’s office to inquire about the car burning in Voždovac, they were told that the duty prosecutor had still not been informed about the case, and that this was done only subsequently.

According to Nova’s findings, Relja Ognjenović and his wife gave statements to the police, saying they heard something like an explosion and then saw their car burning through the window of their apartment. As unofficially stated, Ognjenović declared that for now, he does not know if anyone would want to harm them or who that could be.

On security cameras, as confirmed for Nova, a man can be seen dousing the vehicle with gasoline and lighting it, and nothing remained of the luxury car worth about 100,000 euros. Fortunately, the additional danger of the fire spreading to the building or other vehicles was prevented, and there were no injuries.
