Seven students from the blockade of the University of Novi Sad set off this morning at nine o’clock toward Novi Pazar, in order to participate in a large protest organized by DUNP students on December 21. As the students told Nova.rs, a group of colleagues from Belgrade will join them tomorrow, from where they will continue the journey together.
Seven students from the University of Novi Sad who are participating in the blockades gathered this morning in front of the Rectorate and soon set off for Novi Pazar to take part in the protest organized by their colleagues from that city on December 21.
As the Novi Sad students told the Nova.rs portal, the seven of them set off on bicycles despite the poor weather conditions, in order to show their colleagues from Novi Pazar that they support them and are with them in these difficult moments when the ground of the State University is “shaky.”
“It is cold and it is simply expected that there wouldn’t be many of us. However, we will get support from colleagues in Belgrade, so about 10-15 of them will continue to ride bicycles with us to Novi Pazar. Tonight we will rest at their place, and tomorrow morning we all set off together,” one of the students explained to us.
He added that they have a detailed route planned for this bicycle tour.
“Our colleagues’ journey will last four days. Tonight they are sleeping in Belgrade, from where they continue further tomorrow. Their next stop is Ljig, where they will also rest. Then follows the Ljig-Kraljevo route, and then on the fourth day, Kraljevo-Novi Pazar,” they explained.
They emphasize that there is great interest among Novi Sad students, and that many of them are coming to the protest in Novi Pazar via organized transport.
As a reminder, the students of Novi Pazar previously announced a protest in their city as a response to the former rector of the State University, Zana Dolićanin. According to their claims, she left several professors without jobs and students without the possibility to continue their studies.
