The Serbian national handball team was defeated by Austria in the match of the 3rd round of group A at the European Championship.
Serbia lost in Herning, Denmark, with a score of 26:25 (12:13).
However, chances for passage exist, and that is for Germany to lose to Spain.
Serbia has a chance to move forward, and that will happen in the event that Spain defeats Germany in the match played at 8:30 p.m.
The great performance of goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev, who excelled in goal throughout the entire match, did not help Serbia. He had 13 saves, and Nemanja Ilic scored six goals.
Throughout the entire first half, an equal game was seen, and neither selection had a lead greater than two goals.
Serbia opened the match somewhat more nervously, and Austria led 2:0 after four minutes of play.
In the next eight minutes, Raul Gonzalez’s men consolidated and took a 5:3 lead.
Mostly the Austrians had a minimal lead, but Serbia managed to lead 13:12 at the end of the first part of the game with a series towards the end of the first half, and it could have been a two-goal lead, because Bergman saved a penalty from Nemanja Ilic half a minute before the end of the half.
In the continuation, it was played goal for goal, and it was clear that the winner would be decided in an uncertain finish.
Throughout the entire duel, there were several controversial refereeing decisions, and the one that stood out particularly was when Uros Borzas was excluded for two minutes for simulation nine minutes before the end of the match, while Kojadinovic was excluded immediately in the next attack, which was the fourth exclusion for Serbia. With eight minutes to go, Austria had a three-goal lead, the score was 23:20.
The Austrians did not let go of that lead until the end. They celebrated with a final score of 26:25, and Serbia missed a great opportunity to qualify directly for the next stage of the competition with a victory.
