In the early morning hours, in the very heart of Belgrade, a serious incident occurred when, for now an unknown person, attacked a hospitality venue in Kondina Street, Telegraf.rs has learned.
According to unofficial information and testimonies from residents of nearby buildings, the attacker first broke the restaurant’s window and then threw an incendiary device inside the premises.
“The scene was disturbing. We heard glass breaking, and shortly after that we smelled smoke. We immediately called the police and firefighters,” said one of the residents of Kondina Street who witnessed the event.
Two firefighting units arrived at the scene in record time, contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to the residential units above the restaurant. Police officers immediately blocked part of the street in order to conduct an investigation.
Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities in this incident, but significant material damage was caused to the premises.
The competent prosecutor’s office has been informed about the case. The police are currently conducting an on-site investigation and collecting material evidence, reviewing surveillance camera footage from nearby buildings in order to identify the perpetrator and determine the motives behind the attack.
The investigation is ongoing, and more details will be known after an official statement from the Ministry of Interior.
