Donald Trump plans to spend the entire day in Florida, where he is expected to personally cast his vote.

Although Florida generally makes it difficult for people with criminal convictions to regain their voting rights, former President Donald Trump will have no problem voting for himself today.

Trump was convicted earlier this year in Manhattan on 34 counts of falsifying business documents related to hush money payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election. As the first former U.S. president convicted of a crime, Trump is scheduled to be sentenced on November 26. According to Florida law, if a voter has a conviction from another state, Florida will apply the laws of that state regarding the restoration of voting rights for convicted individuals, CNN reports.

For Trump, this means he will benefit from New York state’s 2021 law, which allows individuals with criminal convictions to vote as long as they are not incarcerated at the time of the election.

For other Florida residents with criminal convictions, the rules are not so simple.
An initiative passed in a 2018 referendum, restoring voting rights to individuals who have completed their sentences, has been significantly restricted by Republican state lawmakers.

They passed a law requiring that all fines and costs related to a conviction be paid—a process that can be very complicated since there is no centralized system to track these payments.
