“Berlin is with the students” has launched a campaign of daily “spamming” the Serbian embassy in Germany. The idea is to make it known that they demand elections and condemn police brutality and the arrests of citizens and student

“This organization of our citizens in the diaspora helps students and citizens in Serbia in various ways and fights for the truth about police brutality to be heard worldwide,” Nikola Dojić from the “Berlin is with the students” organization told N1.

“Citizens in Germany view everything happening in Serbia with sadness, anger, but also optimism that something can change. Our actions are also a way to express our dissatisfaction, and we do this by sending daily emails to our embassy and calling on the ambassador to make a statement and react. We are also organizing other actions to present police brutality and excessive use of force to both the media and all relevant political actors in Germany, which has been happening in Serbia since June 28th and onwards,” Nikola Dojić from the “Berlin is with the students” organization told N1.

He states that this is the current focus of the organization and that Serbs in Finland and Brussels have also come up with the same idea.

“We also want to participate in everything that is happening in Serbia in this way. Our people from Geneva and Brussels have prepared letters that they will send to all relevant human rights institutions, such as the UN High Commissioner. We are in contact with our citizens and students in Serbia. It’s not always easy, but it’s encouraging that we are well-networked. Sometimes it’s enough just to call out – hey guys, we need to raise money, and then we organize. We follow everything that happens; we also supported our students when they went to Brussels and Strasbourg. Our actions are limited to financial aid, but we also try to increase the visibility of everything happening in Serbia so that the world can see it better,” Dojić states.

He also emphasizes that it’s good that when it comes to the events, there is visible optimism which, as he says, “we haven’t seen in a very long time.”

“This struggle is very important because we are fighting for issues that concern human dignity itself, and these issues are greater than Serbia itself; they are issues on a humanitarian level,” concluded Nikola Dojić, from “Berlin is with the students.”
