The lawyer for Ana Ivanović, Christian Schertz, confirmed in a statement to the German newspaper Bild that the former Serbian tennis player and world football champion Bastian Schweinsteiger have separated.
The notice, also received by the German news agency dpa, states that the separation occurred due to “irreconcilable differences,” as reported by Index.
The lawyer emphasized that they do not plan to provide further explanations and asked the media and public to respect his client’s privacy – especially for the sake of her three children.
So far, neither Ivanović nor Schweinsteiger have personally commented to the media, despite numerous inquiries.
Schweinsteiger Already Seen With New Partner
The news comes after months of speculation about marital problems. It recently became known that Schweinsteiger has had a new partner for some time.
In June, he made his first public appearance with another woman, making it evident that his marriage to Ivanović had ended. He was recently photographed on vacation in Greece exchanging kisses and hugs with his new partner, Silva Kapitanov.
The marriage of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Ana Ivanović, solemnized in 2016 in romantic Venice, had for years been considered one of the most harmonious in the world of sports.
Together, they have three sons – Luka, Leon, and Teo – and built their family life commuting between Chicago, Belgrade, Munich, and Mallorca. The idyll began to unravel in late spring 2025, when the first rumors of problems emerged. Although it was initially speculated about Bastian’s alleged relationship with Hungarian TV host Eszter Sedzlacek, it soon turned out to be a different woman.
Who is the New Woman in Bastian’s Life?
The former footballer’s new partner is Silva Kapitanov, a former influencer and author of a popular fitness program for mothers. She is also a mother of two children from a marriage with a member of a prominent artistic family, and her divorce was described by the media as quite tumultuous.
It is presumed that her relationship with Bastian began while he was still married, after they met outside a school in Mallorca that their children attend.
