Stefan Ivanović (31), a Serb originally from Valjevo, is listed as missing following the horrific fire that broke out during the 2026 New Year’s celebration at a bar in Crans-Montana, a popular tourist center in Switzerland. Over 40 people perished in the disaster. Stefan was working as security at the bar “Le Constellation.”

Stefan’s worried family says they have yet to receive any information from the Serbian Embassy or local authorities. One Serb who also lives and works in Crans-Montana told Serbian Times:

— “Stefan is a guy who has lived and worked in Switzerland for over 20 years, and I met him when I first arrived here. Last night he was at his workplace, working security at the bar. This morning, word spread among our people that he was missing; he wasn’t answering his friends’ calls, so they began to fear the worst. We still have no information about him. I also know that he holds dual citizenship.”

The bar “Le Constellation,” which burned down for reasons still officially undetermined, was a favorite social spot for our people living in Crans-Montana and surrounding areas, and several of our compatriots worked there occasionally during the winter season. Stefan Ivanović was among them.

In the meantime, Stefan’s sister-in-law contacted the editorial office of Telegraf. She stated that the entire family is worried and hoping for positive news, pleading for anyone with any information about Stefan to reach out.

A glimmer of hope for the family lies in the fact that Stefan’s mobile phone was still reachable for several hours after the tragedy, leading them to hope that he is alive and being cared for somewhere.

As a reminder, 47 people are currently reported dead in the explosion and fire at the Swiss ski resort, with more than 100 people injured. The explosion occurred around 1:30 AM local time. While the cause remains unknown, pyrotechnics are the primary suspect.
