The destruction of any nation does not require the use of atomic bombs or long-range missiles, it is only necessary to lower the quality of education and allow students to cheat on exams, said today university professor Aleksandar Kavčić, quoting a university professor in South Africa.
When that happens, patients die at the hands of such doctors, buildings collapse if they are made by the hands of such engineers, money is lost from the hands of such economists and accountants, and justice disappears in the hands of such judges, Kavčić stated in a written statement.
He pointed out that these words, unfortunately, remind him of Serbia and that it seems that this evil fate has befallen us, because we see an incredible picture that for almost a decade and a half we have copycats, cheaters, buyers and forgers of diplomas and plagiarists of doctorates in key, leading positions in society.
It is incomprehensible how much these people hate work, effort, honesty and learning, and love diplomas immensely. It is painful to look in the mirror at that image of one’s nation that is obviously collapsing. It is easier to look away towards the imaginary “golden age of the economic tiger”, but one cannot just run away from the fact that the fateful canopy fell on November 1 precisely because this prophecy of the South African professor came true, Kavčić said.
He added that our destinies are ruled by “don’t know” ministers, for whom the party’s rating is the most important while they grovel to the leader, some “don’t know” accountants who seem to be competing for who will embezzle more money, some “don’t know” engineers who sign anything for a handful of euros, and selected “don’t know” judges who would rather deal with Twitter users than serious criminals.
Of course, not all people with diplomas are “don’t knows”, but we allowed them to come to key positions, and we kept silent, Kavčić pointed out.
In these circumstances, it is not strange that learned people, members of the academic community, rebelled, who ask for only the bare minimum: an organized society, the rule of law, the functioning of institutions, responsibility and meritocracy, which is not an ideological fight for “colors and crosses”, for the east or west, for socialism or capitalism, but a fight for the preservation of the nation and the state, Kavčić pointed out.
The only new thing is that now academics finally understand that the path to repairing the educational system and revitalizing the nation goes through a change of government, because without a change of people, there will be no change of the system. And that is why we are asking for peaceful, constitutionally mandated and fair elections. Just that, Kavčić said.
According to him, it is sad that the “don’t knows”, that is, the students, do not even know history, because if they knew at least a little history of any era, they would realize that youth will always win.
Youth overthrew monarchs, sultans, empires, colonialists, slave owners, communists, so it will also overthrow this government, and the only question is how long it will take and whether the nation will be able to recover after that process, Kavčić stated.
