Present are representatives of the Assembly of Healthcare Workers, the Solidarity Network, and many others.
A series of stalls is made up of environmental organizations, starting with “Rangers of Eastern Serbia,” with the message that “there will be no mine,” followed by “We Won’t Give Up Jadar,” offering products from nature – honey, ajvar, ground tomatoes.
“Students win”
At the student stall, in the central part of the area, with the sign “Cowards, call elections,” there is a calendar titled “Students Win,” featuring circled dates of the most important protests, as well as badges reading “call elections,” “a real brother does not mine lithium,” and similar slogans. Announcing the action, the association “IT Blockade” stated that the gathering is organized in the form of an open fair, with stalls, workshops, and a bazaar, so that citizens can get informed and directly get involved in the work of organizations that have for months stood shoulder to shoulder with students in their struggle.
It is planned that actors Tihomir Stanić, Stevan Piale, Vjera Mujović, and Milan “Caci” Mihailović, writer Jasminka Petrović, as well as musicians, will take part, the association announced.
The occasion for holding the gathering is the marking of the first anniversary of organized support by the Serbian IT community to the student movement. The action “Together with Students,” which began today around 11:00 a.m. in central Belgrade – with the participation of numerous formal and informal organizations – has as a clear symbol a large, high-raised and unfurled banner with the message “Blockade,” and next to it, in a row, smaller images from student protests.
At Nikola Pašić Square, where the action is taking place, there are also three stalls with the inscription “The student is present,” so that citizens can support the students’ demand for calling early parliamentary elections by signing, as a continuation of a previously launched activity.
There are numerous stalls of assemblies from various parts of Belgrade, central and suburban, Batajnica, Pančevo, Surčin, Krnjača, Savski Venac, Barajevo, Konjarnik, New Belgrade, Palilula, Vračar.
At the stalls, postcards featuring scenes from student protests can be purchased, as well as homemade cakes, and the price is – whatever one contributes. Some of the assemblies also publish their own newsletters, such as “Voice of Palilula,” “Avala Gazette,” of assemblies from the sub-Avala settlements, which they print, they said, “as they manage,” using some of their own funds, voluntary contributions, and similar means.
