Judge of the Basic Court in Nikšić, Sava Mušikić, has made a decision on bail for Aco Đukanović, along with two supervision measures, it was confirmed today for Radio Television Nikšić.
One of Đukanović’s lawyers said that the supervision measures are a ban on leaving his place of residence and the confiscation of his travel document, reports Radio Television Nikšić.
Đukanović will be released from custody once Judge Mušikić’s decision becomes final.
His lawyers assessed that the imposed measures are inappropriate, considering the bail amount of more than five million euros and in relation to the criminal offense he is charged with.
Aco Đukanović, the brother of former President and Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Đukanović, was arrested after a search of the family home in the Nikšić settlement of Rastoci on February 28, after which he was placed in custody due to the risk of flight.
“Upon the proposal of the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Nikšić, A. Đ. was placed in custody due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosive materials. Custody was ordered due to the risk of flight. There is reasonable suspicion that A. Đ. in his house in Nikšić unlawfully kept weapons and ammunition,” the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Nikšić announced at the time.
