Serbian tennis player Olga Danilović defeated Venus Williams in the first round of the Australian Open with a score of 2:1 in sets after a major comeback.
Serbian tennis player Olga Danilović advanced to the second round of the Australian Open after overcoming American tennis player Venus Williams following a dramatic match. The American decided to return to tennis at the age of 46, and this defeat likely also means she is saying goodbye to tennis, as it is unlikely she will come to Melbourne again to play.
Olga Danilović prevailed after 2 hours and 20 minutes: 6:7, 6:3, 6:4, and it must also be noted that the Serbian player pulled off an incredible comeback in the third set.
Venus Williams won the first set in a tie-break, and Olga Danilović immediately played better in the second, then saved her energy for the third. It was 4:0 for the American, and then the Serbian player “hit the turbo.” She came back to level the score and then made a break for 5:4 by winning the toughest game of the match.
The game lasted 13–14 minutes, there were many deuces and “advantages,” and in the end Olga Danilović coped with the pressure.
