A STRONG EARTHQUAKE HIT MOUNT ATHOS: Monks forced to interrupt the service, tremor felt as far as Thessaloniki!

Greece was hit last night by an earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale, the Athens Geodynamic Institute announced.

At the moment of the earthquake, the service of the Great Canon was being held in the church, and the monks of Mount Athos and pilgrims went বাইরে in fear.

The epicenter of the earthquake was on Mount Athos, at a depth of ten kilometers and a distance of eight kilometers from Karyes, the administrative center of Mount Athos.

The earthquake caused great disturbance and damage in the residences, sketes and cells on Mount Athos.

As reported by Greek television ERT, the tremor was also felt in Thessaloniki.

After the first quake, which occurred last night around 9 p.m. local time, three weaker ones followed.

The president of the Hellenic Association for Earthquakes and Seismology, Efthimios Lekkas, said there is no reason for concern or panic, and that the situation is being closely monitored.
