Eight-year-old Viktor Kostić from Leskovac is a great athletic talent. He chose the “queen of sports” when he was three years old, and so far he has won more than fifty medals at various competitions. Recently, Viktor became a member of the “Partizan” Athletic Club.
Wherever he appeared at athletic competitions in Serbia, the eight-year-old Viktor brought medals. Football, RTS writes, is his first love, but athletics is still something special for him.
The disciplines in which this boy excels are 60-meter sprint, long jump, and he will also try his hand at high jump.
Of course, successes do not come by themselves, because talent is no more than 30 percent of success. Behind the medals are hard trainings. Viktor trains every day, sometimes in the morning and afternoon, and when asked how long the training lasts per day, he answers: “It depends, if I train more an hour, if less, about half an hour.”
The great talent of the little boy from Leskovac, as well as his great desire to improve, were recognized in the Partizan Athletic Club. However, he is not separated from his father, who is his coach and who watches over his career.
-I worked as a coach of the Leskovac City Athletic Club and at the age of two and a half we let him participate with a generation four years older and of course there were no results. The following year he participated with children two years older than himself and then he won his first medal, he was third. After that, we started with more serious competitions and more serious work and the medals started to come – says Marko Kostić, coach and father.
Top experts have estimated that a talent like young Viktor is rarely born. He is still a boy, he still needs to be refined both as a person and as an athlete. What is important for him and for Serbian athletics is that he has become part of the system established in the national association. If all the pieces fit together, it is certain that Viktor Kostić will bring a large number of medals to Serbian athletics. He himself has a clear goal.
-My favorite athlete is Usain Bolt. He is the fastest in the world and I want to become just like him – says Viktor Kostić.
