Olga Izrael Deutsch, vice-president of the non-governmental organization “Monitor,” told Newsmax Balkans that the situation in Israel is dramatic and that she currently has no way to return to the country where her husband and two small children are.

“Currently, there is not a single aircraft at the Israeli airport, and about 150,000 people are currently outside the country with no way to return,” our interlocutor states, adding that for these reasons, she has been staying with her parents in Belgrade since yesterday.

She adds that her husband and two small children are in Israel, emphasizing that the situation there is dramatic.

“On Monday, I received a notification that there was a ballistic missile strike in Petah Tikva, a suburb of Tel Aviv, four streets from the building where we live,” says Olga.

According to her, regardless of the Hamas attack in October 2023 and the overall situation in Israel related to it, while she was there, everyday life prevailed, meaning dealing with children and work, but from the perspective of being far from home, she says she experiences the war much harder.

“All the time I’m tied to my phone, trying to follow the news and be in contact with my family, but at the same time not to alarm them too much. The children are fine, luckily they don’t realize these bombs are more serious, they sleep in a safe room. My husband is a hero, he’s dealing with it alone,” Olga emphasized.

Honorary Consul Nikolić stated on the show “Otvori oči” that the night passed more peacefully compared to the previous ones.

“We are talking about three waves of individually launched ballistic missiles. There were no direct hits on residential buildings within urban centers; most of these missiles were shot down,” Nikolić explains.

According to him, flights to return Israelis to the country will start tomorrow. As for Serbian citizens, the closest destinations will be Athens and Larnaca.
