The Greek island of Corfu was hit by a tornado, which destroyed a kiosk and caused damage to the roofs of houses.
The severe weather that struck Corfu led to fallen trees and power outages, Greek broadcaster ERT reported. The tornado swept away a kiosk, as well as roof tiles from houses and commercial buildings in the area.
Firefighters and the Civil Protection team from the Municipality of North Corfu rushed to the scene, removing objects carried away by the wind and clearing the road network of fallen branches.
In Kavadades, a tree fell onto power lines, causing a blackout across a large part of northwestern Corfu.
A similar problem occurred in Perivoli, where strong winds caused a tree to fall onto the grid, resulting in a two-hour power outage.
Traffic on the coastal road was disrupted for several hours, as the sea overflowed onto the roadway due to strong winds, preventing vehicles from passing each other.
An Aegean Airlines flight to the “Ioannis Kapodistrias” Airport had to follow an alternative route to avoid storm clouds in the west and landed with a delay.
