The Serbian Film Association (SFA) announced today that Belgrade has been listed among the top five European film locations in the selection for the “EUFCN Location Award 2025,” an award for exceptional film locations and cooperation with international productions.

The winning city will be announced in February at a ceremony during the Berlin Film Festival.

“The nomination comes thanks to the filming of the American series ‘The Librarians: The Next Chapter,’ which was realized in Serbia by the production company Balkanic Media, and the nomination was submitted by the SFA,” the statement highlighted.

As stated, Belgrade made the shortlist with La Palma in Spain, Figueira da Foz in Portugal, Inari in Finland, and Sangerhausen in Germany, and the winning city will be announced in February at a ceremony during the Berlin Film Festival.

The award, which is being presented for the ninth time by the European Film Commissions Network (EUFCN), brings together film industry experts and recognizes destinations that have supported productions in the realization of film and television projects through their policies and institutional support.

“The series ‘The Librarians: The Next Chapter’ brought global visibility to Belgrade through recognizable locations such as Kalemegdan, the Military Museum, the National Theatre, the Zvezdara Observatory, and the central pedestrian streets around Knez Mihailova,” the statement emphasized.

SFA representative Milica Božanić assessed that the “nomination is a great recognition that film destinations are not self-grown phenomena, but the result of a persistent partnership between the local film community and the trust of foreign producers.”

“After realizing dozens of projects with Dean Devlin and Electric Entertainment in Serbia, the series ‘The Librarians: The Next Chapter’ provided us with an exceptional opportunity, as it engaged local creatives, from actors to costume designers and set designers,” assessed Jonathan English from Balkanic Media.

As emphasized, film lovers can cast their vote for Belgrade and support our film community to win the title of the best European film location for this year until January 30, 2026, via the LINK HERE.
