U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Sunday evening that he has nominated John Jovanovic for President and Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. Export-Import Bank (EXIM).

“John will leverage his extensive experience in finance, investments, and business development across the energy, commodities, and key infrastructure sectors to once again make America dominant in energy and manufacturing,” Trump wrote on his social network, Truth.

He added that Jovanovic earned a master’s degree in finance and management from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and completed his undergraduate studies in politics at Princeton University.

“He will work tirelessly to protect all the achievements of our strong tariff policies, ensure our exports receive fair treatment, and always prioritize American companies and our energy exports,” Trump wrote.

The EXIM Bank is the official export credit agency of the United States.

“Our mission is to support American jobs, prosperity, and security through exports. We achieve this by providing financial solutions to U.S. companies competing globally, helping level the playing field and filling gaps in private sector financing,” reads the website of this U.S. institution.

DR. OZ’S SON-IN-LAW: “My children will carry the Jovanovic name, not Johnson”

Jovanovic previously led the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) office in Belgrade following the signing of the Washington Agreement.

Jovanovic is an American of Serbian descent whose parents emigrated to Chicago years ago.

A few years ago, John Jovanovic gave an exclusive interview to Nedeljnik, speaking fluent Serbian during the conversation.

“My parents’ stories represent a classic American scenario for the Serbian community in America. Many didn’t speak a word of English when they arrived, had no connections, and started from absolute zero. Life was hard, and they took on the toughest jobs. Everyone had to fight, and they did. They stuck together. Family and socializing with others from the Balkans – that was the safe zone,” explained the then-director of the DFC office.

“My children carry the Jovanovic name, not Johnson. And one day, someone will ask them where they are from. I want them to say they are from Serbia, from the Balkans, with a Serbian father and a Turkish mother. And to proudly say how amazing that region is, how people there work hard, progress, and build great companies and technologies. That they have peace and stability,” Jovanovic said in his extensive interview with Nedeljnik.

Jovanovic is married to Daphne Oz, an American television host, author, and nutritionist, daughter of the renowned Dr. Oz, and father to their four children.
